FHFA Initiative Targets Communities 26

distressedHARP is trying one last initiative to get people involved in the program. They’ve seen steady declines in the number of people signing up for refinancing and they take this as a worrying sign. So they’re working with organizations and community leaders to bring in more homeowners.

The latest program is called the Neighborhood Stabilization Initiative. It’s a pilot program launching in Detroit which is one of the hardest hit cities. They’ll be making every effort to help eligible homeowners avoid foreclosure.

I’m actually impressed with this kind of initiative. It’s not a one-size-fits-all solution for the entire country. Instead they’re speaking directly to communities and working on solutions that are unique to them. This is a refreshing change from the FHFA and I hope to see this program succeed.
