#4 is so stock, I initially liked that one as well, but remember, this is not traditional real estate, it is how to do things differently and accomplish the goals you as an investor need to accomplish. Shortsaleology allows you to unlock those secrets.

If you want to catch the eyes of realtors and home buyers and compete in that space like everyone else, choose number #4, Main Street, USA should be the tagline.

If you want something different, upsidedown, inspirational and separates you from the crowd, work with #15!

Having spent most of my adult life in the military, I am very familiar with symbolism. Ive read the number of responses here and there is some great stuff, but we have to remember ‘who the target audience is’ with this logo.

Basic Design – #21 all the way, it really emphasizes the word ‘ology’ which wikipedia says. “ology denotes a field of study or academic discipline”. we are students of shortsaleology and we must understand that ourselves and it must be potrayed that way to any new members. its like being a real estate Surgeon. Its a highly skilled process and if it is not studied and taken seriously, our clients we are serving can have their lives ruined by our neglect to study the very most cutting edge techniques by placing ourselves among the best in the industry. Cory and his staff!

Colors – Blue has always being very symbolic of honor, fidelity, trust, etc…. its is a great foundational color to display a group of trustworthy shortsale servants. Green says to me Intelligence, Growth, Awareness. we must be intelligent and savy in our niche, continue to grow with the changes in our markets, and be constantly aware of the shifts in our industry like new Laws that affect our clients we serve.

Three Houses – the numbers of houses (3) is very indicative of the three parties involved in a shortsale transaction(seller, us, buyer) while the house in the FRONT by itself is also representing the shoertsale specialist stepping out from the crowd in the community saying, “I will take on the hassles and hardship of this shortsale and serve this distressed howmeowner”.

Umbrella or Handshake – i love both of those ideas and i wish there was a way to incorporate either one, but unfortunately it may make it a little too busy. remember, people have the attention span of a tic-tac, and that could be way to many moving parts. if it can be made to work though, i thik they are great ideas as ‘extras’ but could not substitute the previous.

.Com – dot com has to be there, this is an online community and that makes it special. you cant show up and knock on their door, you have to be on the cutting edge of things to be here. ok, ok, so you have to know how to use a mouse and keyboard, but thats beside the point. it indicates that it is online at that exact website address, and that being a strictly online community means that it will stay at the fore front of the industry by disseminating updates in the online blogs instead of waiting for a monthly newsletter in the mail or going to a stupid reia meeting once a month.

Cory, I think part of the problem is the tag line. I think you should remove it. Because you are not going to be able to put the tag line everywhere and at this point it is probably a distraction to the image and designers trying to fit it in to the image.

You can always ad the tagline without a problem but the “LOGO” should have its own trajectory and be able to stand alone and communicate the message of unity, community, shortsale”ology”, real estate.

A logo is suppose to evoke emotions without words necessarily, plus you want to be able to separate it for different media such as letterhead, contracts, website, and as you indicated, coffee mugs, t-shirts and the like.

Also if you separate the tagline, which basically makes your target audience short sale investors, your logo, symbol, could actually be used for cross advertising to consumers and you could possibly have one that is slightly different to let shortsaleology members used.

Think about it, if you are paying on this money in branding, why can’t the ssology members take advantage of it as well and use it in their material, it gives the program more exposure and it sorta becomes like a certification to homeowners that this company is part of a larger network of experts that can really get the job done. So when marketing material goes out the company can advertise, if it is a small and good logo, that they are a proud member/servant of the Shortsaleology community.

Just some thoughts to make this work for everyone!

    Cory,

I guess I’m missing something? It took me a moment to get the two ll were forming a house, but it really doesn’t convey anything more than real estate.

I was under the impression you wanted something that lent insight into how ssology is different, this send a traditional run of the mill message, that doesn’t evoke excitement but leans towards run of the mill!

    I still don’t get it.

I do not think any on them are going to be recognized by RE investors just looking at them. (in 3 seconds or less) I think a lot of folks will think you are talking about shorting stocks or just have no idea.

I have asked this before but do not think I received an answer . Who is the target audience? And if it is RE investors why don’t you incorporate the $ sign into the logo. Lets face I know we want to help folks (myself included) but most RE investors (I assume including you Cory) are “for profit operations” Its nice to put what ever spin you want on this but if you are marketing to RE investors then you need to zero in like a laser on what it is you do and what the benefit is PERIOD!

Anything else is just fluff plain and simple,

    Good luck

    Jay I agree,

But you want to be careful with the salesperson side of things as well, you don’t have to be in your face with a logo, the words and campaign strategies can project that as well.

I think Cory is looking to make something more professional than sleazy, which is what the image of this business is right now. Also, to make your point more defined, in the end it is about $$$ savings for everyone, the bank, the owner, the investor and the purchaser.

But again, I think you can communicate that in much more effective ways than having it in your image, you don’t walk around with the Scarlett Letter (dollar sign) on your chest do you?

  • Jay

    George
You are correct. I was getting a little frustrated because it appears at least to me that almost every one here is breaking all the rules of marketing as I understand them them. . Just be cause they think THE MARKET will understand it does not mean they will. I guess I will just have to agree to disagree about how they are doing this. I agree that this should be professional.
    Thanks again

I was trying in a nice way to express the same sentiment. As I know them to be, marketing is out the door on this one.

I use to think marketing and the principals behind it were for the lazy college students that just need to get through, I later found, it really works! However just like some others were saying about ology of shortsaleology there is a definite science behind marketing which I think, this is a great opportunity being missed!

  • Jay

    George,

Your words, priceless. (No pun intended)

I hope they find a logo the will be understood by RE investors beyond this group. After all I thought that is what this is all about.

    Thanks

Keegan, my point is, a tremendous amount of money goes into marketing for these large companies, and all they want is there name to be imprinted and memorable, but they advertise everyone, to anyone and in many different venues, they spend so much money promoting that logo, more than our entire community makes in a year, because they invest millions into advertising, so don’t be confused about it being a great logo, they have great marketing streams and dollars. The next thing is, I think where all this breaks down, those MAJOR corporations, has a lot more population to cover and spread the word for them, we are only about 3 percent of the US homeowners and even less when it comes to investors.

I agree, the name will sale itself Cory, however, again it goes back to image, you are not creating one with just words and you are tarnishing it with cash symbols!

  • George Ross

    Cory,

I just have a question, I just noticed your Short Sale Fundamentals logo at the top of the page.

Can you tell me what is wrong with that one as a starting point and making it a little more web 2.0, professional and crisp.

I really think that has capture a lot of what everyone is saying on the post all together, so you got it right that time. Make you could make elements a little more abstract but the bridge, the dollar signs, the house, the people, the business, the community, it’s all there!

    Cory:
#34 logo is great, It is clean & simple. The colors are bright & clean. Two things with short sales: You have a home that may go into foreclosure and you have people in distress. This logo represents both, a home & helping hands, to relieve them from stress. The hands are neat as the chimmney. You could even have smoke coming from the chimmney with words that helps the home owners ie: “save your credit”, “”we can help”. etc. I like the slogan ” A community of short investors serving as one. I would add the word “sale”. A community of short “sale” investors serving as one. Also maybe the word SALE be in a different color to highlite this to the home owner.

    PICK ME PICK ME

    Cory:
Great idea on a LOGO CONTEST!!. You sure have accomplished a lot. I like logo # 15. The colors are great and good illustration. It represents a house and a person. The person has their hands up representing they are free from debt. The house is a shadow behind him representing this house (or stress) is now all behind the person. I like the word “SALE” in a different color. This stands out from the other words & pops. After all, this is what the home owner needs & wants.

I like the slogan “a community of short sale investors serviing as one”. You could also add the slogan from # 2 but change the word umbrella to roof: ” service, speed, confidence all under one roof”
The home owner wants to hear these words & it make the business card stronger.

    Keep up the good work.
