While entering the anomaly to take readings,
Lieutenant Spock very casually asked if Cory
knew what he was doing. Cory jumped on the
chair and shouted "Of course not! If I always
waited till I knew what I was doing before
doing it, I wouldn’t be captain!"

Though the crew was puzzled, they had seen
Cory prove himself time and again and they
knew enough to trust him. Suddenly, the
ship was rocked by a tremendous blast. All
on board systems started going haywire and
main power was cut to all but the most
vital systems. Cory yelled for emergency
backup power, but it too was offline. The
ship was dead in the water.

Suddenly on the main view screen appeared
the Earth. The crew found itself suddenly
transported trillions of miles through
space in the blink of an eye. Cory said
"We must have passed through a wormhole.
We should be far away from here, but some-
how we’ve been sent to Earth. Mr. Sulu,
can you give me any information?"

Mr. Sulu turned to Captain Cory with a
grim look on his face. "According to my
sensor reading, Captain, we’ve not only
travelled through space, we’ve travelled
through time. We’ve jumped back in time
to the end of 2009!"

Cory’s face turned white. The crew knew
exactly what that meant. 2009 was the last
year before the big crash. 2010 was forever
remembered as the year of chaos, when
housing prices plummeted, unemployment
reached staggering proportions, and real
estate agents and investors across the
United States closed up shop. The face of
the globe was changed by the upheavals of
those times.

"Captain," exclaimed Mr. Scott, "what
are we going to do?? Bad enough we’ve been
taken out of our own century. But to wind
up here!"

Cory face became hard, and he got that
determined look in his eye that the crew
had come to know.

"Men, we’re going to do the only thing we
can do. We’re going to change history!"
