Time Is Money
I really believe in the old saying that time is money. What that means is that every moment of your day is worth money. But here’s what else that saying means: if you find that you don’t have enough money (and who does??) it’s probably because you don’t have enough time.
Now you need to really understand the two sides of the time coin. On the one hand you don’t want to waste your time because you could be earning money. That means you need to be really effective at looking at a situation and figuring out whether getting involved in it is really going to pay off. But what you also need to realize is that if you’re not making as much money as you want to make, you’re not using your time efficiently.
You can listen to all the marketing ploys and sales gimmicks you want telling you how to generate big bucks, but without the time to implement them all those great ideas are worthless. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been faced with 20 exciting prospects and had to let them pass me by because I just didn’t have time for them. But that’s where you’ve got to develop your judgment. You need to get smart enough to know just by giving something a brief once-over whether it’s the most effective use of your time. You need to do that with all of the options confronting you and hopefully you’ll make the right choice.
This idea has never been more applicable than it is in real estate. As investors and salesmen, we know how many potential leads turn into sales, and how many turn into road kill. How do you size-up a potential client and figure out whether he’s wasting your time or whether he’s really worth working with? I mean, time is money, right? So you can’t spend all day climbing up the wrong tree!
Well, experience is the first tool at your disposal. But you know what, it takes time to gain experience! And not having enough time was the whole problem in the first place. So we’re back to square one: how do I use my time efficiently?
The answer is: use my experience.
Yeah, sorry, it’s really that simple. My mantra is and always has been to be a servant. Which means all of the thousands of hours of experience I’ve gained over the years are yours. I didn’t work all these years just to make money. I did it to gain the knowledge to help others. So if you want to make the right choice, save yourself some time and wasted effort and just talk to me. I’m here to share with you everything I know about the real estate industry.
